Vu’s Martial Arts is a complete martial arts school committed to helping men, women, and children of all ages and abilities to achieve their goals through providing smart fitness and serious self-defense.
Younger students discover the scope of their physical abilities, while developing a solid foundation for the their emotional growth and maturity. From our commitment to authentic traditional martial arts education, to our assistance with standard student issues such as school work and social concerns, we are dedicated to the empowerment of our students. In turn, the skills learned: confidence, respect, self-respect, and self-control help our students to grow as individuals and deal with the many challenges of today.
From our school’s structured classes of varied achievement levels, to our staffs dedication to provide supportive and professional instruction, we attract students of every age from 4 to 84.
Master Vu started training at the early age of 4 with his Father who was a 2nd Degree black belt in Taekwondo and a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marines. At age 8 he began his formal training with Master Dong Soo Kwak in Lewisville Tx. Then moving on to train with many different instructors over the years as well as many different styles of Martial arts.
He earned his 5th Degree Black Belt with the United Taekwondo Alliance in 2010 and in 2014 shifted his own training to Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu Peter Pham of Combat Wing Chun “Vinh Xuan”. Master Vu has over 40 years of Martial Arts experience and over 25 years of working with students of all ages.
Master Vu also recently earned the Mastership title of “Sifu” in Wing Chun Kung Fu in December of 2022 and has created his own system of teaching and learning Wing Chun for his students. It has been his great honor to earn Mastership in 2 different styles of Martial Arts.
He has taught in McKinney since 2000, and opened “ Vu’s Martial Arts” in 2006.
Vu’s Martial Arts uses a rotating curriculum which alleviates the instructor from having to split the class. The chief instructor can dedicate all his time to one group. Students moving to the next class will have learned all of the same skills, although they may have learned them in a different order than their peers.
Master Vu teaches 99% of the classes unless he is sick or there is an emergency in which case his certified Assistant instructor will take over teaching duties as well as one of his more then Qualified Adult Black belt students will either assist or take over for the day. All in All you will always have an enjoyable learning experience at Vu’s Martial Arts.
We have no contract requirements at Vu’s Martial Arts. There are 2 types of membership payment plans: Month-to-month auto-draft (30 day or 1 month notice to cancel Auto-draft) 6 month paid in full (non-refundable) Receive a significant discount and a free uniform when you sign up for one of the paid in full programs!
Vu’s Martial Arts participates in 2 national and 3 regional tournaments each season (year). Other tournaments may be available as well. Tournament participation is optional for all students.
Every student is different. Belts are awarded based on readiness and qualification, not time. However, the average training time for a black belt is 3 to 3 1/2 years.
We use a 9-week testing cycle. Students test only when the instructor say they are ready to advance.
The more often you are in class, the more you will learn! Every Student may take up to 3 classes a week.
